Raymond Schiavone – President and CEO

Raymond Schiavone

Raymond Schiavone is president and CEO of Quark. He joined the company in 2006.

Schiavone is a veteran software company CEO and former GE executive. Prior to joining Quark, Schiavone was president and CEO of Arbortext, Inc., where he directed the company to an industry-leading position in XML-based authoring and automated publishing software, which led to its acquisition in 2005. Previously he was president of TPN Register, a GE and Thomas Publishing joint venture, where he took the company from a start-up to a top position in the electronic commerce industry.

Prior to TPN Register, Schiavone had a highly successful career as an executive at GE. During his 14-year tenure there, he held a variety of leadership positions throughout the United States and Europe. He was a graduate of GE's prestigious Corporate Audit Staff and Information Management Leadership programs. He holds a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Maryland and a bachelor's of science from Syracuse University. Schiavone received the Ernst & Young "Entrepreneur of the Year" Award in 2005. Schiavone is also a board member at the University of Maryland Engineering School.

Jim Haggarty – CIO

Jim Haggarty

Jim Haggarty focuses on the IT infrastructure at Quark to ensure efficiencies, reduce costs, and increase revenues. Haggarty has more than 30 years of information technology and operations experience. Throughout his career, he has introduced strategic technology plans across diverse industries, building world-class infrastructures and serving as a lead change agent for corporate growth initiatives.

After beginning his career with Bayer AG in Montreal, Haggarty served as a director of systems development for Domtar Inc. and as CIO for Domtar Gypsum. He was also vice president of information technology at Arbortext. A fluent French speaker, Haggarty earned his bachelor's of science from Loyola College in Montreal before completing a number of technical certificates.

Kevin Mammel – CFO

Kevin Mammel

Kevin Mammel is responsible for leading Quark's financial operations, including overseeing and managing all global finance, accounting, and treasury functions. Mammel has extensive experience in financial planning and analysis, accounting, investor relations, and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining Quark, he held senior-level positions at Skyetek Corporation and McData Corporation, where he served as vice president of finance, treasurer, controller, director of financial planning and analysis, and director of investor relations. Mammel also held leadership positions with Qwest Communications in its finance, accounting, and corporate development organizations. He earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Pennsylvania State University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Colorado. Mammel is a Certified Public Accountant and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Peter Jensen – General Counsel

Peter Jensen

Peter Jensen has served as Quark’s general counsel since 2006, and is responsible for all aspects of Quark’s legal affairs around the world. He brings to Quark more than 17 years of broad corporate legal experience, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate finance, and domestic and international strategic development and distribution partnerships. Before joining Quark, Jensen was the senior corporate and securities counsel for Samsonite, was vice president and general counsel for Colorado MEDtech, a publicly-held medical software and products company, and was a partner at Chrisman, Bynum & Johnson (now Faegre & Benson). Jensen earned his law degree from the University of Michigan, and earned a BA. degree in Geology from The Colorado College in Colorado Springs.

Mark Benfer – Senior Vice President of Sales, Americas, Pacific and Japan

Mark Benfer joined Quark as senior vice president of sales for North America in August 2007. Benfer brings more than 20 years in technology sales to his role at Quark, including global experience in building and managing sales teams with market-leading companies. Benfer is responsible for leading the company’s direct and channel sales activities across North America and driving key growth initiatives in the desktop and enterprise markets.

Most recently Benfer served as senior vice president of worldwide sales for HealthMedia. Previous positions included vice president of worldwide sales at Arbortext and a 17-year tenure with GE and GE-owned subsidiaries.

Benfer earned a bachelor’s of commerce from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada, and a Masters of Business Administration from Oxford Brookes University in Hedington, England.

Matthew Wallis – Senior Vice President of Sales, EMEA and Asia

Matthew Wallis

Matthew Wallis oversees all sales and services responsibilities for Europe and Africa. Wallis was formerly vice president for global sales and marketing at Blue Order Ltd. His career of more than 20 years spans both major corporations, such as Hewlett-Packard and Motorola, and startups, such as Blue Order and Artesia Technologies. His focus has been on the development of sales and service organizations, covering a broad range of vertical markets.

Wallis began his career with Hewlett-Packard after obtaining a degree in control engineering from Sheffield Polytechnic. He also holds a diploma in strategic business from the Institute of Directors (IoD), of which he is also a member.

PG Bartlett — Senior Vice President of Product Management

PG Bartlett

PG Bartlett leads all of Quark's product management and product marketing functions. With fourteen years of experience in dynamic publishing, Bartlett is a recognized expert in the industry. In his previous position at Arbortext, Bartlett was instrumental in establishing dynamic publishing as a market category and driving the company's growth through the introduction of new products, entry into new markets, and expansion in existing markets. Bartlett brings an extensive history of high-tech marketing and product management in factory and office automation. He earned his bachelor's degree in business from Northwestern University with additional study at Northwestern and the University of Chicago.

Ronnie Thomson – Senior Vice President of Engineering

Ronnie Thomson

Ronnie Thomson is responsible for overseeing research and development, user experience, and quality assurance for all of Quark's desktop and enterprise products. He has an extensive background in commercial product development, building high performing teams, and the rapid delivery of products to market. Thomson also has experience creating product strategy as well as overall product management. Prior to Quark, Thomson was director of research and development for unified messaging products at Avaya, Inc. where he was responsible for long-term business growth plans in addition to product strategy and product direction. Prior to Avaya, he also spent several years as vice president of engineering at Centra Software, Inc. Originally from Scotland, he holds a Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow (UK).

Claire Hancock — Vice President of Human Resources

Claire Hancock

Claire Hancock is responsible for Quark's global human resources operations and strategic planning. Hancock brings extensive experience in organizational development, talent acquisition, training and the design of human resources operations and programs. She comes to Quark from Promotional Products Association International based in Irving, Texas, where she served as vice president of operations with management responsibility for the finance, information technology, and human resources organizations. She has held roles as vice president, director, and regional manager of human resources for companies including Alatiere, Inc., TPN Register, and Coopers & Lybrand. Claire holds a master’s in general administration and human resources management from the University of Maryland University College and a bachelor’s of science from Towson State University in Towson, MD. She is certified as Senior Professional in Human Resources.

Dave White — Vice President of Alliances and Emerging technology

Dave White

Dave White joined Quark in November 2008 as vice president of alliances and emerging technology. With nearly two decades in the publishing software industry, White is responsible for leading the development of Quark’s strategic partnerships and identifying business opportunities across the company’s desktop and enterprise businesses. Prior to joining Quark, White was vice president of product strategy at PTC and Arbortext where he led key initiatives for executing on emerging technologies, strategic partnerships, and acquisitions. He has also held roles in sales, product management, engineering, and business development. With extensive knowledge of a broad range of science and technology, White has helped define XML standards and has spoken at a variety of publishing conferences. White graduated from Purdue University with a degree in electrical engineering technology.

Gavin Drake – Vice President of Marketing

Gavin Drake

Gavin Drake has been with Quark since June 2004, and having held various marketing positions with Quark in Europe, he currently oversees all worldwide marketing, including corporate communications, creative services, online marketing, events and direct marketing.

With more than 16 years experience marketing high-tech publishing software, Drake has worked with customers, media, channel partners and technology vendors worldwide. Prior to Quark, Drake has served in international marketing positions with content management, XML and database publishing companies.

Drake earned his BSc Hons degree in Physics and Business Studies from De Montfort University in the UK, and is currently a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, having attained their Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing.
